SMART SHOPPER CARDS – DEBIT CARDS FOR SHOP RITE AND STOP & SHOP: Envelopes are available in the Church for parishioners to obtain Smart Shopper Cards. Parishioners desiring a card(s) please complete the directions given on the envelope. Please deposit the envelope in the box located in the front vestibule of the church. The envelopes containing your order will be filled on Mondays and will be available for pick-up at the Parish Office from Tuesday to Friday (9:30 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.) or they may be picked up in the front vestibule of the Church the following weekend after the Masses. Smart Shopper Cards will continue to be available at the Parish Office during office hours. For every one hundred dollar ($100) smart shopper card used, the parish receives five dollars ($5.00) This is a wonderful contribution to our church at no cost to those who use the smart shopper card. The cards are available in $20, $50 & $100 amounts. The purchase of Smart Shopper Cards are not only available to all our parishioners but for everyone who would like one.  The cards can also be given as gifts. Imagine the benefit to the parish if all our parishioners were to purchase their food by using a Smart Shopper Card.

AARP TAX HELP  This year this service will be held in the Church Hall, each Tuesday, from 9am until 4pm.  PLEASE NOTE:  This service will take place ONLY on Tuesdays.  Please be sure to make an appointment by calling 802-7190.  AARP in conjunction with the IRS provides free income tax preparation and e-filing by trained and certified volunteers for low and middle income groups, handicapped, and 50 years and older.  The program uses the AARP definition for elderly, which is anyone fifty and older (no income restriction) and the IRS definition of income as those making $70,000 or less a year (no age restriction.).

GIRL SCOUT SUNDAY:  MARCH 7thAll Girl Scouts are invited to attend the Sunday 9:30am Mass in uniform to participate in the Liturgy.

BY WOMEN/FOR WOMEN: On Wednesday, March 10, from 9:30am ( 9am Mass) to 11:30am in the Parish Center Conference Room, the women of the parish are invited to a program of spiritual enrichment and sharing. The focus of our presentation for reflection will be “THE DOOR” as a symbol of "inviting God in ...” Please join us and bring a friend. PARISH AT-HOME RETREAT DURING LENT:  SAVE THE DATE:  MARCH 21 - 28, 2010.  A "directed retreat" for Lent will begin in our parish on SUNDAY, March 21st, 2010 and continue throughout that week (Mon. to Fri.) ending on Sunday, March 28th.  The retreat will begin with a group meeting on Sunday, March 21st, at 1:45pm in the Parish Center; and will conclude on Sunday, March 28th, at 1:45pm.  During the week, Monday through Friday, each person will meet individually with a spiritual director for 30 minutes daily.  Your private meeting will be held at a time convenient for you.  Your director will discuss prayer with you and suggest material for you to pray with until your next meeting.  There is no charge; but a free will offering may be made at the concluding meeting.  Registration forms for this retreat should be brought to the Parish Office;  and all registrations are due no later than Monday MORNING, March 15th.

PARISH PATRON SAINTS CELEBRATION:  (St. Joseph, Parish Patron / St. Patrick, NY Archdiocesan Patron / St. Benedict, Sisters Patron) Saturday, March 13, 2010 6:30 P.M. Church Hall.  CORNED BEEF DINNER with Music.

IN HONOR OF OUR PATRON SAINT JOSEPH, FATHER OF JESUS:  On March 19th, we will have a celebration in honor of the Feast of Saint Joseph.  Please join us for Mass at 9:00am, following by a light breakfast in the Church Hall.

PENNY SOCIAL:  The Cardinal Spellman Columbiettes #5800 will be holding their 4th annual Penny Social on Saturday March 20, 2010 in the church hall. With a snow date of April 10th. Admission is free, and doors open at 6:30pm.  Raffle tickets and refreshments will be available for purchase.  All proceeds will be donated to charity.  To make this event a success, the Columbiettes are once again requesting donations of NEW and GENTLY USED items to be raffled off the night of the event.  Items can include glassware, bric-a-brac, household items, hand-made items, electronics, jewelry, gift certificates and re-cycled gift items.  Donation boxes will be located at both entrances of the church the weekends of January 30th, February 6th, and 13th.

SEDER MEAL…PLEASE SAVE THE DATE: The last supper Jesus celebrated with his disciples was a “SEDER”.  It was also the first Mass.  Many Christians today enjoy this service as an experience of our common heritage with our Jewish friends.  The Seder is full of symbolic foods representative of Biblical stores, including matzos – the forerunner of the bread for our Eucharist.  THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ALL PARISHIONERS.  We hope that you will come to this special meal at Saint Joseph’s Church Hall, through which we can return to the roots of our faith.  We shall celebrate this Seder meal on Thursday, March 25th at 6:00pm.  The coordinator for this event is Martha Koenig, and she is looking for volunteers in assisting with this special celebration.  Martha can be reached by calling 255-5572 or by email: martha_koenig@juno.com

CARIBBEAN NIGHT:  Saturday April 20, 2010.  The Catholic Campus Ministry will be sponsoring a fundraiser for the Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic.  The Caribbean Night will take place in St. Joseph's Church Hall at 6:30pm with a Caribbean Buffet, music and Meringue lessons.  Tickets can be reserved by calling the Pairsh Office, 255-5635.

GOD’S TYM (TOTAL YOUTH MINISTRY):  Our Catholic Youth Program for high school age students will meet in the Church Hall at 7:00pm on Sunday evenings.  Come and see what we are about!  Mr. Tom Brinkmann, Director of Capuchin Youth and Family Ministry and a core group of teens will facilitate.  All are invited to attend!  

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): a Catholic formation / education program. The RCIA Program is for people interested in full initiation into the Catholic Church through the celebration of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation & Eucharist. It is also for Catholics who have been Baptized and have not celebrated the sacraments of Confirmation and/or Eucharist. Those who are interested please phone the Parish Office and ask for Fr. Barnabas.  RCIA Adapted for Children: We also serve children from the 3rd to 8th grade that are in need of age appropriate sacraments.  Call Donna Wirthmann at the Parish Office, 255-5635.

INVITATION - BRING TO CHURCH A NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEM OR A MONEY DONATION FOR FOOD:  place the food item in boxes located in the vestibules of the church or the money donation for food in the collection basket clearly marked For Food. A representative number food items will be brought to the altar at the presentation of gifts time of Mass. Food pantries are experiencing a shortage of food including our Parish Food Pantry. Whatever help you can give will be appreciated greatly.
