_______________________________________________________________________ RCIA 2013/2014: We will begin the new RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) program on Monday, September 9th. This program is for those interested in learning about the Catholic Faith. It welcomes those who have no particular faith affiliation or those who belong to a non-Christian faith group. In addition it serves those baptized in a Protestant Church and, finally, baptized Catholics who never received Holy Communion and/or Confirmation. Please contact Brother Salvatore for more information and registration. SPRING PLANTING AND THE FOOD PANTRY: When planting your vegetable garden consider setting aside a row of veggies for the pantry and bring your harvest in for distribution to the needy. FAMILY PASTORAL VISITATIONS: Fr. Bernard, Fr. Salvatore and Deacon Salvatore will be scheduling family pastoral visits. The visits may take place in the home or at the Parish Center. The clergy will begin their visitations with families who register their children for the parish Religion Education Program. The visits will comprise: a review and update of the Parish Census Form (for the purpose of getting to know the family); to share the family’s insights regarding their faith in Jesus (their sense of belonging to His Church) and to share insights regarding the faith formation of their children. DISCOVERING CHRIST PROGRAM HELP WANTED A great inspiring program is coming to St. Joseph’s every Sunday evening starting October 6th through November 17th. This seven session event has transformed lives through thought provoking questions like “What Is The Meaning of Life” or “Why Is The Resurrection Important”. Have you been looking for a way to participate in a meaningful way during this “Year Of Faith”? Why not join the Discovering Christ team. Help is needed to present this program. There are many ways to be involved which will be discussed at the information night. You don’t need to have gone through the Discovering Christ program to be involved. Some areas of help needed are : 1) hospitality … every session begins with a light meal shared by the participants. We need help organizing the food, cooking, serving, cleaning up. 2) table hosts … people who can make the participants feel welcome and encourage then to take part in the table discussions. 3) publicity group … people who can get information the various sources advertising the program to our church and community. 4) data keepers … people who like administration duties like registering participants, developing program handouts, name tags, attendance records. 5) music … singers and instruments to help lead participants in brief worship before and after session. 6) service team … set up facilities with tables and chairs, podium, A/V and PA systems. So, if you see an area you think you could help with please come to one of the Information Nights listed above. If you would like to have any questions answered now call Kate Grimsland at 255-8536.
