SPIRITUAL DIRECTION- We are blessed to have here at St. Joseph’s several parishioners who are trained and certified spiritual directors. 

Spiritual direction is an ancient practice in the Church which provides a person with a confidential Faith context in which to talk about, discuss, and grow in his or her personal relationship with God. The spiritual director is a guide who will accompany you on your spiritual journey, listening attentively and sometimes making suggestions about prayer and spiritual reading. 

Spiritual direction is not therapy, not confession, and not just a casual conversation.  The focus of spiritual direction is your personal relationship with God. It is an ongoing relationship with a spiritual friend, one who has been specially trained to listen and ask questions that can guide a person to tuning into God’s presence in his or her own life. 

Often it is only in telling our story to someone else that we truly hear it ourselves. 

At the initial appointment, the spiritual director and the person being directed will decide the frequency of your meetings, usually every four or five weeks.   Each meeting usually lasts an hour.  And no long term commitment is required.
